Edgybees Extend Drone Prix AR Game to Epson Moverio Smartglasses

Earlier this month, Edgybees was the first game developer out of the gate with an augmented reality racing game for DJI drones called Drone Prix AR. Now, as the month closes, they are crossing the finish line with the first gaming app for Epson Moverio BT-300 Drone Edition smartglasses.

Like the app available on iOS and Android, Drone Prix AR challenges DJI owners to maneuver their drones through a virtual obstacle course.

With the Moverio BT-300 Drone Edition, pilots can now navigate with a first-person vantage point from the drone's camera projected onto their lenses.

"Edgybees has created an amazing new innovation – AR drone gaming on smart glasses – that could only be possible on the Moverio platform," said Eric Mizufuka, the product manager for New Ventures at Epson America, in a news release. "With the Moverio BT-300 Drone Edition, users can avoid having to look down at their smartphones or tablets in bright sunlight, providing convenience, comfort, and safety as well as a one-of-a-kind gaming experience."

Pilots are scored on performance and time, as well as points earned from collecting items along the course, and they can compete against their own best scores, or race against others online. They can also link to their Facebook accounts to share their accomplishments.

The Moverio BT-300 Drone Edition ships with the DJI GO companion app preinstalled, as well as clip-on dark shades for use in bright sunlight and fasteners for mounting smartphones onto the Moverio controller.

"The Epson Moverio BT-300 Drone Edition smart glasses offer the perfect platform for our Drone Prix AR app, providing an immersive, seamless experience for optimal enjoyment and learning," said Adam Kaplan, CEO, Edgybees. "The Moverio glasses also allow pilots to maintain a line of sight to their craft as they weave their way through the course."
