On this, the most cherished day for Star Wars fans, May the fourth, Lenovo has released a significant new update to its Star Wars: Jedi Challenges app: real person versus person lightsaber battles.

Now, any two users who both have the Lenovo Mirage Jedi Challenges system (which is on sale at Best Buy and Amazon right now) and the updated app (iOS and Android) can fight each other in augmented reality using the system's included lightsaber accessories.

Of course, there's no haptic feedback to give you the sense that the lightsabers are working weapons. Instead, the new update allows you to engage in choreographed lightsaber battles.

Although we tested the Lenovo system when it first launched, we haven't managed to pair two users together for this new update, so it's difficult to determine how effective this experience will be at replicating a Star Wars lightsaber battle.

What we do know is that the new update requires the two users to stand at least six feet apart, which means that, unlike the visuals in the promotional video (below), these lightsaber skirmishes won't get too up close and personal.

Nevertheless, it's an update that has been on the wish list of many Star Wars fans and comes on the perfect day to celebrate your devotion to The Force.
