The long tease that is the release of Minecraft Earth continues, this time with an opportunity to start playing what might be one of the hottest augmented reality games ever, before the general public.

As promised back in May, Microsoft has opened up its closed beta program for those interested in signing up and diving into the world of Minecraft Earth as soon as possible.

Along with the closed beta sign-up, the company also released a new trailer which shows off how the game works on your screen and in the real world.

The video shifts between screen captures of what the game looks like on your smartphone screen and then shift to a scene that shows two players engaged in playing with the same virtual constructs.

Those who sign-up for the closed beta will also receive a free skin for Minecraft Earth (even if they don't get beta access). Players will be get instructions on how to claim their virtual swag within 24 hours of signing up.

The game is free and works on iOS and Android devices, but requires a Microsoft or Xbox Live account to play.
