If you're a man and subscribe to podcasts or YouTube channels that cater to masculine interests, then you've almost certainly encountered sponsorships from Manscaped. And that means I don't have to explain what the company is selling you (for the uninitiated, it's a company dedicated to helping you trim your body hair—most notably, your nether regions, in addition to other areas).
Now, the brand has let the vines of its advertising reach grow into the augmented reality realm with a Sponsored Lens on Snapchat for iOS and Android.

Upon accessing the "Tame Your Weeds" AR experience through the front-facing camera of your smartphone, a vine of virtual vegetation will emerge from your nose in the camera view. Follow the command to raise your eyebrows, and the Weed Whacker electric nose hair trimmer appears in your real-world space.
Coincidentally, I trimmed my own nose hairs this morning using scissors. Perhaps it's time for me to up my game here? Conveniently, Snapchat's Shoppable AR platform provides a link directly to the product page within the Lens.
"With online shopping booming more than ever, it's important to be able to get a feel for a product before you buy it," said Brandon Carney, Paid Social Manager at Manscaped, in a statement. "Our Snapchat Weed Whacker AR lens lets users experience firsthand how the device actually works for them in a fun and engaging way."

Snapchat has not just weathered the pandemic; it has thrived on the strength of its AR advertising offerings. Last month, the company's stock price rose in response to the release of a favorable quarterly earnings report last month, where daily active users increased to 249 million and revenue jumped 52 percent year-over-year to $679 million.
"Our focus on delivering value for our community and advertising partners is yielding positive results during this challenging time. We're excited about the growth of our business in Q3 as we continue to make long-term investments in our future," said Evan Spiegel, CEO of Snap, in a statement accompanying the earnings report. "The adoption of augmented reality is happening faster than we had previously anticipated, and we are working together as a team to execute on the many opportunities in front of us."
